The F-Gas regulations place legal obligations on companies & the users of refrigeration & air conditioning equipment. Fluorinated gases (F-Gases) are man-made gases that, because they don’t damage the atmospheric ozone layer, are often used as substitutes for ozone-depleting substances.

They must be registered as a company as well as holding their individual F-Gas qualification such as City & Guilds 2079, BESA FGas, CITB J11, or LCL FGas. There is confusion about certification types with people commonly referring to “having their F-Gas” whilst referring to either their personal qualifications or their company registration certificate depending on the context of the

The F-Gas certification covers operators, firms and training centres working with fluorinated greenhouse gases, which must fulfil the obligations arising from the Kyoto Protocol to reduce emissions and meet the EU climate change targets.
